Design Process

Initial Visit and Consultation
Sue makes an initial visit to the garden during which time a presentation of her portfolio provides an opportunity to discuss ideas for the proposed project. These discussions will help to formulate a client brief for the garden.

This is followed up with a clearly written brief including costs and design charges.

Survey
After the design proposals are agreed, the garden is surveyed and photographed.

The survey not only includes measurements of the house and boundaries of the garden but all other features that may affect the design such as levels materials planting etc.

Other elements such as soil type, drainage, orientation prevailing winds etc are noted to assist the preparation of a base plan.

Design Proposal
A presentation of pencil drawn outline sketches are produced for discussion and refining into a concept design.

Masterplan
Once the concept design is agreed, a final Masterplan is drawn up with supporting visuals to show how the garden will look. Copies of the design can then be provided to contractors to tender for the works.

Planting Plan and Schedule
A planting plan shows the location of any new and existing planting in the design. An accompanying schedule lists the plants and quantities as an aid to costing, ordering and setting out before planting.

Specification Drawings
Construction details of specific features can be supplied where required.

Planting
After the construction, your plants can be sourced, supplied, set out and planted to your design schedule and requirements. Maintenance and plant care guides can also be prepared for your new garden.
